1A) Developing an Architectural Position & Programme (Group/Individual)
As a group, students are required to formulate a design brief that clearly provides the scope of
design exploration, the architectural programme suited to the targeted community/user group
within the selected context/site. Students are required to conduct studies on users and the contextual
conditions of the site, and conduct research (precedent studies and any other related research)
in relation to the proposed design project.
Our site is located at the Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur which is actually a parking lot for the people surrounding especially DBKL. It is nearby to the Lrt public transportation that brings a lot people come to the area. Issue of urban stress to be found in the site area as people staying in urban city occurred a lot of minor issue that tend to make people desperate such as pollution, noise, traffic, population or even personal life. A detailed site analysis and video to be recorded for further understanding design development.
Link above shows the slide of our group's presentation based on specific issue, programme and precedent studies for the site in Jalan Raja Laut.
Awesome team under Ar.Edward Chew!
1B) Design Strategy Proposal (Individual)
In relation to the proposed project, individually, students are required to produce a design
proposal that demonstrates how the design approach, strategy and concept responds to the
design brief and contextual conditions.Previously, during the interim, the concept of this building is based on Emptiness but is lack of detailed concept which make the change of Green concept for designing the building. Green to be believed is a comfort color that calm the visual and mentally to people which could helps to solve the urban stress issue. Diagramming and idea intention to be proposed for the understanding of designing the building programme which could develop for further.
1C) Detailed Design and Final Executive Report (Individual)
Once the design strategy have been fully developed, students are to come up with a fully
resolved design, Design should demonstrate student’s ability to integrate considerations for
technology environment and cultural context through a finalized architectural design. As degree
graduating students, the work is expected to have a structural sense (build-ability), maturity
(considering by laws and regulations), exploration (creative use of materials and space) and work-ability (a well referenced spatial organization & planning).
Students are expected to come up with final detailed design presentation and a very
comprehensive final executive report. Report shall incorporate knowledge acquired from
module co-requisite and pre-requisites.
